'Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council' to be inaugurated on Friday, April 25, 2025

The Government of Karnataka is proud to announce the inauguration of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council (KSAHC) on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1:30 PM. The event will take place at the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute Campus, K.R. Road, Bengaluru-560002. The council office will be inaugurated by Dr.Sharana Prakash Rudrappa Patil, Hon'ble Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Government of Karnataka. It is a significant milestone in the regulation and recognition of allied healthcare professions across the state.

The KSAHC has been established under the guidelines of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021, and will function in line with the Medical, Dental, and Nursing councils. This landmark initiative mandates that all candidates completing undergraduate, postgraduate, or diploma courses in allied and healthcare field must register their degrees/diplomas with the council to practice or work within India or abroad.

Prof. U.T. Ifthikar Fareed has been appointed as the first Chairman of the KSAHC, with members from various categories nominated to ensure comprehensive representation. The council's office, complete with the necessary infrastructure, website, and online registration portal, has been set up at the Bangalore Medical College Campus.

The KSAHC will oversee a wide range of allied and healthcare professions, including Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Dialysis Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Optometry, Cardiac Care Technology, Respiratory Care Technology, Perfusion Technology, Anaesthesia& Operation Theatre Technology, Clinical Research, Health Information Management, Hospital Administration, Nutrition Science, Occupational Therapy, Community Care and Behavioural Health, Radiation Therapy Technology, Physician Assistant, and more.

With Karnataka being one of the first states to implement the act with full operational readiness, the KSAHC is led by a distinguished team of healthcare experts. The council's leadership includes Prof. Dr. U.T. Ifthikar Fareed as Chairman and Dr. Srinivas Murthy S.T. as Secretary. The Autonomous Boards are headed by Dr. G. Arun Maiya, Dr. Sunita Saldanha, Dr. Pravin Aaron, and Prof. Anitha Misquith as President. Additional council members include Prof. Rajesh Shenoy, Dr. C.V. Yogaraje Gowda, Dr. A. Suresh Babu Reddy, Dr. Bharath K.H., Dr. Usha Devi, Dr. Suvarna Hebbar, Smt. Lakshmi Shinde, Dr. Adithya Goyal, Vaishali Bhaskar Pai. Dr. Sumita Rege. Dr. Archana Bhat K., Dr. N. Janardhana, Ms. Sruthy P.V., Dr. Kirti P.L., Dr. Abhilash P.V., and Prof. Savitha Ravindra.

The establishment of KSAHC signifies not just progress for Karnataka but serves as a model for other states, ensuring that Allied and Healthcare professionals are streamlined, recognized, and empowered to serve with competence, integrity, and global credibility.

The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by Shri B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, Hon'ble Minister for Housing, Waqf, and Minorities Welfare, Government of Karnataka, with Shri P. C. Mohan, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Bangalore Central. as the Special Invitee. Dr. Smt. Yagna Unmesh Shukla, Chairperson of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, New Delhi, will be the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour include Dr. B. C. Bhagawan, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences; Shri Mohammed Mohsin, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka; Dr. B. L. Sujatha Rathod, Director, Directorate of Medical Education; and Dr. Ramesh Krishna K., Director and Dean, Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute.
